The Forego was disappointing unless you played Here Comes Ben,lol. Maybe a good hunch bet considering "Big Ben" has been in the news lately. Anyway, the top contenders were disappointing. Drama sure does seem like a tough luck horse if there ever was one. Gotta respect him though. The sprint division looks like this: Majesticperfection first and everybody else second.

Quality Road's race didn't do much for me. He beat a weak field by a safe, controlled margin. I still think he is overrated. I still think Blame is the better distance horse. I still think Blame beats him in the BCC if they both enter the race. I still think Quality Road is in over his head going 10 furlongs against top class. I hope they enter Quality Road in the BC Mile. That race should be perfect for him.

I'd turn him into a lawn ornament. That way every morning when I went outside to get my newspaper I'd see him and remind myself I won the Kentucky Derby. That would be good enough for me,lol.

It is amazing though, he looked so damn good for two races during the Triple Crown. He has looked so ordinary since. Horses sure are tricky animals.  Who wins another race first, Mine That Bird or Super Saver? Its been an odd 10 years for the Derby. Either we get a brilliant freak winner like Big Brown or we seem to get a one and done winner. All I know is that these last two Derby winners make Giacomo look like a world beater.

Either run him at a minor track and see if he has any interest left, or find him a new career. Maybe put him with a jump trainer and see if he can either be a steeplechaser or jumper. I'd probably try the minor track first, I'm sure Sam Houston would love to get him, or Finger Lakes. The way he's been running, I'm not sure he'd scare that many people, so he should be able to get a race that fills. And, yes, new trainer, Lukas doesn't think outside the box - not sure Dutrow does either, though, and I'd put him with a mid-level trainer with a small stable where he can get attention and be spotted right. I'd also want to choose a trainer who can spot physical issues, in case that's what's going on. Grindstone wasn't sound, Birdstone was a touch sounder, but that line isn't known for being iron horses.

You guys are lucky getting to sleep at all. I get maybe 4 hours, normally. Then I wake up even if I feel like I barely slept at all. I have clock in the head disease. 6 AM and my eyes pop open like somebody poked me with a stick. My mother is deaf as a door, but if I, 2 rooms away, turn over in bed she's up and wandering around on a walker that squeaks and rattles enough to wake up the next door neighbor. I then have to make the coffee and get the paper in or she is squawking her head off for me to do it.

I wonder if it wouldn't be prudent to notify HPI of the problems we've been having--not a complaint, just an FYI. I'm sure they have some say in how the channel is distributed. They would probably be interested to know that many of their customers have suddenly been dropped by their cable and satellite carriers with no advance notice, and that the channel is now part of some obscure package.

As Wando says, Bell did pretty much the same thing a couple of years ago.  I turned on HPI one day and it was gone.  I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first irate customer to call because it was back on within a few hours.  It had been part of an extra sports package and they'd changed it to a stand alone, and they'd also moved it to a different satellite, so someone had to come out and put up a new dish--which they did for free.  The guy who installed it for me said he'd been kept pretty busy--and this was in Saskatchewan, so I can imagine how many they had to do in more populous places like Ontario.  I suspect its popularity kind of took them by surprise; they probably thought the subscribers to the sports package were interested in the Thai kick boxing rather than horse racing and no one would notice when they made the switch.

From what little I saw of him, he was well dressed, was cordial, happy to be there, and appeared to have good manners.  My TV coverage is TVG via FSN so maybe I saw only a small part of his TV exposure.

You know even though MTB is batting 0 this year a lot of people really love this horse just based on his Derby win and how he did it so when they do retire him I can see him going to the KHP.  Not the Hall of Champions unless something changes in the next few years but to the All Breed Barn.  When was the last time a Derby winner became just a nice riding horse?

Funny Cide was a stable pony for about a year.

*gasp* Troll!  Cheesy

MTB almost always looks good. I remember seeing him up at Woodbine. He has a look in his eye. For an otherwise plain little bay horse, he certainly makes a firey pre-race apperance.

Well, I've been called worse .....;-)

Okay, so if that's his usual pre race MO then maybe its all good in his head.  To me he must be missing something else...the right conditioning and mostly pointing him to the right races there just wasn't anything in his PP's that said he belonged in todays G1 Woodward other than D Wayne's ego.
