You could say that he has made the first statement in the Gallop for the 2010 Guineas. The full bro to EOTL was super impressive winning an allowance race at the Fairgrounds yesterday. Look at the way he does it, showing a really impressive acceleration on the turn, something his plodding brother has never done. He beat nothing and the time wasn't that great but its nice to see a Canadian bred 3 yr old male making a little noise down south over the winter. This guy was always more racy than his brother. His brother looks like a plodder, he looks like a runner. Fingers crossed we finally get a good crop of homegrown 3 yr old boys...

I am still angry over EOTL winning Champion 3 yo male. Lets hope this one deserves it if he can prove he is something else.

Hotep could possibly start next in the Risen Star and/or the Louisianna Derby. I'm not sure he's good enough to contend in the US TC, but if he goes in either of those races we should get a pretty good idea of the type of horse he is.

Yeah I agree, they should probably stick to the Plate trail rather than the Derby trail though you never know, I guess he deserves a shot in the Risen Star or the Louisianna Derby.

Yes, and since he's spending the winter in Louisiana anyway, why not?  He has plenty of options.  If he holds his own in a Derby prep or two, they can keep their hopes up.  Even if he makes it as far as the Derby itself and runs up the track, there would be time to regroup and head back to Canada, especially as the Plate's date has apparently been pushed back for the Queen's visit.  Not the most conventional route (Kentucky Derby as a Plate prep?), but it could work.

Just thought of something--with the Plate pushed back, he could win both the US Triple Crown and the Plate.  There'd be no living with us Canadians then.  Bring on Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra!
