There is a big mare named Zenyatta.
You cannot beat her if you gotta.
When she does her great dance,
Kiss goodbye to your chance,
Cause you're screwed as a fish out of water!

The United States is such a great country, this guy can go bankrupt owing the bank more money than most people can even dream about, have this Thorn Song thing hanging over his head and still possibly own one or two Kentucky Derby starters. Yep, the US of A is one hell of a great country, somehow I think this guy will land on his feet.

No offense intended, but how is this a reflection on the US? There are scumbags all over the world, regardless of the country and the system of government a country has.

Zayat's a scumbag. The terms I'd normally use for people like this would get me banned.

Horse racing is a funny sport.  I love how dogged the JC is about birth reports, and birth dates, and naming, and reports of mares bred, and all of that stuff...but then they completely fall off the wall about death notices.  I mean, I guess it really doesn't matter, but I think a lot of the time it might just ultimately be beneficial (if nothing else convenient for fans) to mandate death notices be on record as well.  Then again, that would further chip away the shroud of secrecy that racing seemingly prides itself upon.

So if I'm reading this right (which I'm not sure if I did), he collected on the insurance but didn't submit a death report?   I would think a death report would be required for an insurance company to pay up

Maybe a stupid question, but is the horse actually dead?  Undecided

Probably.  But I wouldn't put it past Zayat to cheat an insurance company, either.

Would have to agree.  The US has been so tolerant of white collar crime; especially the last 10 years.  This attitude must really frost those arrested for armed robbery, assault, etc.

I agree. I live here and love this country but it pays well to screw people over, do the little time they give you and then live off the millions that you embezzeled in the first place. The government should strip these people of ALL their material wealth to pay off their victims. There are so many examples that could be given over the past 20 years. Just another example to show why this country is in a downward spiral.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but the fact that he hasn't been able to produce any official documentation of Thorn Song's death perhaps means that the horse is alive and this is in fact a huge insurance scam. I wouldn't put it past him.

Still, dead or alive, the poor horse.
